Volkswagen adding bright hues, Wolfsburg name to its 2007 lineup

Fahrenheit colors are fruit-flavored sunbursts
October 5, 2006

Volkswagen is splashing some color on and bringing back a familiar name to its 2007 model lineup in the automaker’s continuing effort to further boost and vary its U.S. product offerings.

Much like the Rabbit moniker, the Wolfsburg castle badge is synonymous with Volkswagen’s past and is being revived like the Rabbit with the introduction of the 2007 Wolfsburg Edition Jetta, a lower priced, smartly optioned alternative to loaded-up Jettas or the GLI.

The Wolfsburg Jetta is powered by the VW’s 2.5-liter four and features 16-inch alloys, a sunroof, leatherette seats, cold weather package, upgraded floor mats and of course, Wolfsburg badges. Manual transmission models are priced at $19,360; auto equipped models are $20,435. (Note: Photo above is of a non-Wolfsburg Jetta 2.5, no photos of the vehicles mentioned are available as of yet from VW)

Loud, fruit-flavored colors highlight the 2007 Fahrenheit GTI and GLI trim variants. Bathed in Fahrenheit orange, the Fahrenheit GTI package also features orange interior trim. A sport tuned suspension and DSG transmission; 18-inch ‘Charleston’ alloys; heated leather sports seats, a sunroof and Fahrenheit badges round out the $27,665 package.

The Fahrenheit GLI features a Fahrenheit yellow exterior and yellow interior trim and essentially the same options as the Fahrenheit GTI. Manual transmission models are $27,880 with automatics at $28,955. Both Fahrenheit variants will be produced in batches of 1,200. VW has also created a whited-out version of the New Beetle convertible, called the Triple White. Painted in a color called Campanella white, the automatic transmission-equipped model also offers 17-inch alloy wheels, white leatherette seats, center armrest and roof boot. Black carpeting, floor mats and door panels offset all that white, and Sirius satellite radio is part of the package. Price is $25,990 and 3,000 will be made.
