Hi,

I'm only 16 but am looking to get a car pretty soon and am def. going to tune it.  I was wondering, which is more readily tuneable, a TT or an A4? (cuz God knows no one can afford the new RS4)... please keep in mind that when I say TT and A4, I mean the most preformance savy model (like the 3.2L TT for example, not the automatic one.  Which car has better engine swap options?  Which car is lighter?  If I kept the stock motor, which car has a better, more tunable motor?  Which car is easier to work on (in terms of space and compatability)? Thanks for all imput!!!

Ok well first off if your only 16, you should consider maybe an older A4, because well the tt's are a more sporty luxurious car that well punk ass teenagers tend to total, or go out and have a sweet party life and well insurance may be well over 350 a month. But for your question hands down on the A4 being more tuner-able. Finding parts for a tt is well close to imposible because many top end companys focus more on pathetic Honda Civic's and what not. I own a tt, and today i was looking for an aftermarket radiator, and i made a few calls and wound up with nothing. I promise the A4 is more tunerable, and more of a compatible car with newer aftermarket part's. But to get to a good point why the *** would you want to do a motor swap on an Audi, were not talking (a16's to a b18 DOHC)* are we.. no leave that *** to the civic's. Peace.

Note * thats honda talk.

Both A4 and TT have versions with the 1.8T engine which is highly tunable , a lot of companies out there have turbo upgrade kits for both cars , the TT has an advantage , if you pick the 225 it already comes with a bigger turbo dual intercoolers , forged internals adn dual intercoolers , also 6 speed tranny and  Haldex All wheel drive systems . Simply reflashing the the software (chip)  on the 225 TT will put it you on the 260 to 270 HP mark . thats 50HP for $400.00 .
Popular  and reliable big turbo kits for the TT are the APR and the Delrio they will put you on the 350 to 420 HP mark for around $4K to $6K .

There is plenty of option to tune the TT , a lot more than the A4 because the engine is transverse and  is the same used on 1.8Ts Jetta , Golf , GTI and NEw bettle. so most of engine mods for them will be compatible with the TT .  while the 1.8T longitudinal is only used on the Audi  A4 and VW Passat B5.

the A4 1.8T comes only on the 150 or 170HP  ( smaller turbo)a chip will bring them to 200HP at the crank . there is also a lot of compaines that make turbo upgrades for it .

If I was to by one of the two to tune , I would buy a 2000 TT FWD (  awesome looking good engine base and lighter than the AWD version) you can find them used for about S10K, and upgrade to a big  garret turbo.  For about 18K , wou will have a little ass raping awesome looking head turner  monster .

If you really want a car to mod then audi is probably not a good car if your on a budget, I'm saying this because a A4 was my first car and I also wanted to highly mod it but the parts for the a4's are a pretty penny.  So if your not on a budget then go ahead and get the a4, but if you are then get a acura or a honda to mod because they are *** of alot cheaper to mod and you can find those parts everywhere at any auto store.  If you do get the a4 then some mods I would do first is get it chipped or get the stock ECU reprogrammed, full exhaust system, forge 007 BV, Boost gauge, Koni adjustables, and those are just some of what you can do with the a4. And if you really want to make it go then get the K04 turbo.  Good luck with your decision.
High performance ECU chip,K & N air filter,After market clear headlights and turn signals, Dual chrome exhaust tips, S4 steering wheel, Center vent boost gauge, Debadged grill
