first steps with my a4 avant

Im a new owner of a 2000 a4 avant 1.8t quattro. I bought a super sprint muffler and didn't notice much improvment. Plus I think I paid way too much for it. Now I want to get somthing else like an intake or software, but I don't now what to get fist since I'm on a tight budget and can only do so much at a time. I was expecting for the car to at least sound better with the $600 muffler, but I want results. What should I get and from where. Carbonio? or Neuspeed p-flow? Any suggestions?
