I have a stock 2001 gti vr6. the 01 gti is a 5 speed, with a 2.8 with 174 hp stock. the 02 and up gti vr6 2.8 comes with 200 hp and a 6 speed. If i put an 02 motor in, will my 5 speed bolt up ok? Also, has anyone done this swap?  

And most importantly... is it worth swapping?

the its possible the swap,the diference is that the 02motor 200hp cylinder head have 24valves, 4 valves per cylinder, a but in my opinion is a waste of time you will have to change wiring, ecu, etc., also there not to many Aftermarket help to the 24v engine, only a couple AM comanies manufacture superchargers for them and a very high price, I think the engine you have is on of the most reliable engines the VW manufacture so my advise exhaust, intake and some UD pulleys,and you'll be right there with the 24v engine.
