i have a 2004 golf 2.0, and when mine reaches 190 it to makes a loud  clicking ,or tappin noise, i had it to vw over 6 times , and they finaly found out that it was that emission valve thats on the left side of the car  looking from the front, not sure of the correct name of it, but that solved my noise, might solve yours, willl call vw and get the correct name of it,will post it soon, hope this helps,

I just put it back in the shop on mon for a loud tappin, clicking noise , [bold]here is the result of VW wonderful certified techs,[/bold]

they said  this is normal, a loud tappin noise, but i dont think so it ddint do it all the time, just started happening

small knocking/ clicking noise found at 190 degrees, this noise was present at the N80 purge solenoid, this is normal and no repairs are needed,no problems found, -- vw certified tech  <img src='/_siteconfigs/_global/images/community/bbcode/mad.gif'>  <img src='/_siteconfigs/_global/images/community/bbcode/mad.gif'>
