Hello to all fellow VDubbers out there. I'm new to the family with my 1996 GTI VR6. I am in love with this car it is a blast to drive and from the research i have done i know it has loads more potential that i want to bring out. The thing is i know jack about modding cars i only know how to drive the hell out of them. I'm looking to see if anyone can tell me where i should begin with after market parts so i can get the most bang for my buck with a significant increase in power and handling while not taking a significant decrease in my wallet. Anyone out there who can give me some advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time
- Josh

Make sure the timing chain guides are not broken. The AAA motor has weak guides and they break creating slack in the timing chains. You will hear a rattle or odd noise at 1500-2000 rpm. This is a huge job if you need it done. If it needs to be done, go ahead and put some cams in while you are there and do the intake. The trans will have to come off so check on the clutch flywheel and pressure plate.

Get the car to handle great, then add a turbo, or supercharger, then a chip, or do the chip befor the turbo or supercharger.but befor the doing power gains, put a big break kit on it so that you know it well stop.

like some of the other guys said, it's what you want to do, if you like to start from the inside or out. I got started with the inside of my car, with the system and went out, and I'm still changing, but when I did is bought a performance chip,Intake, and a Super Sprint exhaust which game me a little more power. I have went through some changes with my car. You can check my ride out here as well as my site sheb12.com.
