ringing ?

Hey, my 09 jetta sportwagon is making a "ringing noise" after shut down.lasting from 20-40 seconds and than "click" it stops, 10 hours on TDI engine, 1250 km.

Any idea from what area of the car it's coming? Without any more specific details, it's really hard to diagnose your issue. If I had to guess, I'd say it COULD be some sort of cooling device (radiator fan or oil cooler) doing it's job in keeping parts from welding themselves together. Do you hear a click when it stops? That's likely a relay breaking the circuit to shut down whatever device is running. Next time, pop the hood and see if you can see what's ringing.

This ringing is coming from the front engine maybe around the altanator area hard to tell . Today my engine fan ran for 5 minutes after shut down, did not seem normal, after driving 3 km. I think your close from what your telling me, the next time i drove it and shut it down , the ringing came back and lasted for 30 sec or so you could hear a click and it would stop, driving the same distance back to work.
