What is the best performance chip to get for a B6 1.8T and is installation hard? How much improvement will i see from the stock 170hp. Any suggestions?

First, you need to ask yourself a few questions. First, what's your goal with your car? If your car is totally stock now, then you would need something along the lines of a stage I tune to load in your ECM. Bigger injectors, a stout cam, and a modified exhaust system all have an effect on the parameters your engine needs to run properly, efficiently and safely.
Assuming your car is stock now, what is your timeline for other performance mods to your fuel delivery system, engine & exhaust? If you're looking at doing them within the next 3-6 months, then you might get away with doing a more extreme tune. Performance & mileage will not be its best, but it would save you the time for a re-tune later.
Most of the late-model cars have to have their ECMs flashed, rather than physically inserting or replacing a physical chip in them. As far as from whom to buy, most any of the advertisers in et are top-notch or they wouldn't be around. I don't work for any of them or for et, but I've been in the hobby for more than 15 years. I hear all kinds of praise & boos, especially from the car clubs. You should find one in your area if you're not already a member of one. Valuable as heck, and there's nothing better than local hobbyists to bounce ideas off of as you get into it!

don't waste your money on these. I was thinking about getting a performance chip too, but it looks like these things don't do crap. I was reading this article about it, and it looks like these things don't work at all
